About Hypnosis Hypnosis is being in relaxed, focused state. Its very similar to watching ones favorite movie or being in a daydream. Many people still hear all of the other sounds going on around them, can adjust their posture & talk. Suggestions can only be offered that you'd naturally believe or that you'd truly to like change. This is why it's so important that there is a discussion about exactly what you'd like to change, why you want to see or feel this change in your life, and what is a realistic way of making that happen.
In hypnosis, I use approved suggestions, metaphors and different protocols that work with the subconscious part of our mind. The subconscious part of our mind is where we store our memories or information that we keep on re-play. When you do something that you are very familiar with, such as; riding a bike, doing the dishes, folding laundry, typing on a keyboard, even driving to a familiar place, you can do these tasks while letting your mind wander. Your subconscious mind is continually storing and retrieving information, and doing this with information that we are not often conscious of.
Our mind is very powerful. Our mind can’t tell the difference between real or imagined, for example; we can blush with just a thought, our heart & breathing rates slow when we think of our favorite place to holiday, and our stomachs begin to gurgle when we think of our favorite foods. When we think of a past hurt than our body ramps-up, as if we were back in that situation again. These are actual measurable, biological responses to thought. And these thoughts are often on re-play. Hypnosis works in shifting our thoughts so that we can have healthier ways of thinking and healthier biological responses in the body, which actually improve sleep and decrease pain.
Our Time Working Together Due to Covid, I am prioritizing how we spend our in-person time together. Hypnosis Intake forms are emailed to you. Kindly fill it out and email it back. I am looking for some very specific information, so I might call or email to make sure that I understand what your needs are before we meet in person. We can either email or book a time on the phone to discuss the Intake form and Care plan.
I am taking in-person appointments at this time. I'll be wearing a mask. Even though in-person sessions are ideal, please know that all hypnosis sessions can be done as Mp3’s that you can enjoy as much as you like as these are emailed with a link to a downloadable file.
How Many Sessions? Each appointment or Mp3 builds on each other. It’s important to consider that habits and behaviors that have been ongoing for years need a reasonable amount of time for sustainable and effective change to occur. Listening to audio recordings or spending time utilizing self-hypnosis will create quicker changes. I only give homework that you actually want to do, and most people find it very gratifying to do these activities. Many people notice a shift in the first session together, however, sustainable change realistically takes 4-6sessions (and this can be a combination of a couple of in-person appointments with the audio-recordings that are given with each appointment). Most people who see me are ready to make significant changes. They are committed to the process. Hypnosis may have been a last resort or maybe they heard of me from a friend, but they are ready to heal and reclaim parts of their lives that they feel they have been missing.
