Clinical Hypnotism for Groups and Individuals With hypnosis we can work with the subconscious part of our minds where these patterns are on re-play, and we can change the tape or introduce a new idea. Our mind is quite powerful. We can blush with just a thought. When we read about something scary, then our face might go white. Our heart rate slows when we think of our favorite place to holiday. Our mind can’t tell the difference between real or imagined, and this works well in hypnosis when we are introducing new thoughts and ways of behaving or re-framing things. A person always makes their own choices during a hypnosis session. I can’t say things that you wouldn’t naturally believe or tell you to change something that you’d rather not change. That’s why it’s so important that we have some time to discuss exactly what you’d like to change, why you want to see or feel this change in your life, and what is a realistic way of making that happen.

Hypnosis is being in relaxed, focused state. Its very similar to watching ones favorite movie. We can be very engaged in the movie, but also aware of the person beside us eating popcorn or slurping on their drink. We choose to focus on the movie. We can even get up during the movie to go to the bathroom, come back, and get right back into the story-line.
Being in hypnosis may or may not feel different. Many people still hear all of the other sounds going on around them, can adjust their posture if they are uncomfortable, and can signal with their fingers if asked questions. Sometimes verbal conversation might happen as well, though finger signals are very effective. During the session you are always able to tell me to stop if needed or to slow down what I am saying, you’ll be able to tell me verbally or indicate with a gesture.
After our intake, then we’ll have the hypnosis session, and after the session I’ll follow up with some things you can do at home so it really becomes a mutual collaboration.
