Hello Kind Hearts, It's funny, but I should be saying that I sound people instead of saying that I sound bowls. Every living being is vibrating which creates sound that is often not audible to humans, and I use the bowls to hear what people currently sound like. I can feel a person well before I hear the sound of the bowl. The bowls give an audible sound to the person or people that I am working on. Most folks can hear how the bowls change sound as I work. I've never sat still during soundwork/soundbath. I am actively sounding pre-placed bowls, placing bowls on people & moving bowls with the intent to harmonize individuals for their own healing & to harmonize everyone as a group. This is so important. We live the best versions of ourselves in healed and whole communities. I don't think I've quite explained that before, but I think about it.
Sound, frequency, vibration. I have worked with sound healing over the last five years in private practice, with groups and palliative care. Prayer and intention is magnified by sound & amplified by frequency. Sound is the catalyst, the pause in the silence is the moment where healing actually occurs. That pause is when individuals are able to reset, to literally retune their being. I use the analogy that sounding people is like tuning my classical guitar. I am listening and feeling to how people sound, and I am consciously changing frequencies (bowls) to facilitate healing. When working with people, the bowls can actually sound different for many reasons, but I will use the bowls in a certain way till all of them sound clear. It's not the bowls that sound beautiful, it's the people that they are giving a voice to. The bowls project the vibration & song of the people around them.
Herbs of Quiet Power. The calendula that is in my garden has been re-seeded over and over the last 18 years from seeds that were gifted to me by my mother-in-law in Austria. Calendula- Calendula officinalis It is in the quiet stillness that we often see the magnitude of creation and healing. Seedlings grow into massive trees without any noise that humans can hear. They are large established plants that offer whole intricate ecosystems to insects, creatures and other types of flora. All of this from a single seed. When gardening I get a lot of enjoyment from seeing the sizes of all the seeds. Poppy seeds are as big as the head of a pin, while tomato seeds are large white flecks. Cosmos seeds remind me of the points of a star, and dill are large enough to easily plant and space properly. I have often thought that Calendula seeds are rather large considering the size of the plant. A Tomato plant is significantly larger than a Calendula flower, and yet the seed is smaller. We all know that the seed has potential. Judging the potential of a seed, is about the same as trying to judge the potential of a small child. Perhaps it is better to just let them grow. Perhaps it is better to continue to let ourselves grow because just as a tree doesn't stop growing, people continue to grow through the cycles and seasons. Sometimes it's easy to forget all the inner growth that we are accumulating, processing and reverberating back into our surroundings. Our inner growth is often not something visible, nor even something measurable and yet it has a very real effect on the choices we make that are visible to ourselves and the people around us. Just as the smallest of flowers are capable of healing some very serious conditions and concerns, we are just as capable as finding ways to heal, support and nourish others along with ourselves. We can always choose to heal. That is our choice. Sometimes individuals and circumstances may make obstacles for our healing and creativity, but they can not take our Will to heal and move forward. We always carry that potential, that possibility, that ability to create anew. It is a part of who we are. Calendula is one of the gentlest, most versatile, and useful garden herbs. It is considered a companion plant to support the growth of surrounding plants, the flowers are edible, the flowers can also be macerated in a vegetable oil for a soothing, healing oil that can be added to creams, blends or used on it's own. This small flower has been used by many herbalists and is easy enough to grow by the novice gardener. The essential oil is very herbaceous in aroma and is quite viscous. It is ideal for blends that are being used to treat skin conditions. Affirmation: I am always able to create anew. There is always potential. There is always the choice to heal. Suggested use: Anti-inflammatory, protective, healing and highly antioxidant. Very useful in skincare products for dry and problematic skin.
Reflection: -What small healing is there to be grateful for in your life today? -What small or youthful people have surprised you with their talents and skill? What is similar about those little individuals? -What is something you are able to give to yourself everyday and every week?
Sounding into Emotional Comfort I wrote this for a wonderful person this month, and thought that perhaps I should pass on the goodness.
Re-framing Anxiety and Panic, Knowing You can Adapt to Change Here is a meditation/hypnosis for individuals who struggle with anxiety and panic, specifically those who find they get tightening in their chest and have trouble breathing. This hypnosis is to facilitate a response of the chest softening and becoming open, and as one is open to breathe they are open to solutions, healing and new ideas for moving forward. This hypnosis strengthens one's ability to adapt and change to each moment they find themselves in. There is flute music that I incorporated into the recording, this is my flute in Key of D (sacral chakra) It's 26min long. I count you in, then count you out at the end. There are pauses for you to do your work. It's recommended that you listen to it once while you are awake, then after that you can listen to it multiple times and fall asleep if you'd like.
**For the Mp3 link: please email me directly. I will email you with a link that you can actually download (instead of streaming from the internet!). It's too large a file for a mass newsletter. Affirmation: You are able to calmly and comfortably participate in the situation or thoughts you are having…… while remaining open. With the rising of your inhale.....and the softening with your exhale. Let that goodness nourish you.
Complimentary Clinical Hypnosis to reduce Alcohol consumption or Smoking As I have been talking with friends and individuals over the last few months, it has become apparent the different ways in which we are coping with stress. Alcohol, nicotine and drug consumption has greatly increased, and a few friends have talked openly about the slippery slope of alcohol consumption. If you are wanting to decrease the amount of alcohol you are consuming and have been finding this a challenge, please reach out. If you are wanting to reduce the amount of smoking that you are doing, please send me an email. As part of the Intake (via email and the phone) we discuss other supports that may need to be in place, and you'll be given 2 or 3 very personalized hypnosis MP3's over the course of a month and a half. There is no cost for this specific work at this time. Kindly pay it forward however you can.
Community Sound Circles & Events A huge thank-you to Theresa Gagnon for sharing her outside studio space in July and facilitating yoga for two evenings. Individuals were able to meet outside for yoga and soundhealing, and funds were raised for the Georgina Food Pantry. It was awesome!
I've only been posting events about two weeks ahead of time as things are outdoors and I've also been listening for provincial updates on what I can do. I post fairly regularly on my instagram account: sarah.veterifeiner In August there are several options for morning or evening soundbaths with yoga or meditation. I am either co-facilitating with or being hosted by some really incredible women, and I invite you to participate in their classes even if you can't make it to a group sound session. They uphold integrity, compassion and a deep love of our planet. Portion of the proceeds this month will be for Margaret Bahen Hospice!

About homeschooling...I have over 12 years of experience with my three boys. I have organized and participated in both academic and outdoor co-ops, organized large field trips, facilitated small learning groups, and provided mentoring for families. In assisting families, I am able to provide an overview of what schooling may look like at home with different dynamics and offer exploratory questions so families are able to better identify their needs.
